Basic introduction of silicone coatings

The silicone coating is divided into two types: acrylic polysiloxane and epoxy polysiloxane. The acrylic modified silicone coating is described below.

The gloss and color persistence of acrylic modified silicone coatings is significantly better than typical polyurethane topcoats. Moreover, gloss and color retention are also better than the first generation epoxy resin modified silicone topcoat. In addition, the acrylic modified silicone coating has the same corrosion resistance as the conventional epoxy resin technology, and the mechanical properties are slightly better.

Designed usage of silicone coatings

Siloxane coatings are advanced zero VOC preservatives in the heavy preservative leadership. It maintains color and shine for a long time. When used as part of a high performance anti-corrosion coating system, the service life is long before the first repair. Siloxane coatings are designed for use in markets where visual effects are important and aesthetic requirements are high. This includes high-performance structures such as bridges, offshore mining equipment, sump areas, and general industrial and commercial steel structures that are critical to aesthetics. Siloxane coatings have the dual advantages of corrosion resistance and aesthetics. In addition to its excellent durability, it can also pass the barrier effect similar to the traditional epoxy intermediate paint, and can also reduce the total number of paint layers in the high-performance multi-layer coating system, thereby reducing the coating cost and improving production effectiveness.

Surface treatment of silicone coatings

All surfaces to be coated should be clean, dry and free from contamination. All surfaces shall be evaluated and treated in accordance with ISO 8504:1992 before painting. The primed surface silicone coating must be applied to the recommended anti-corrosion coating. The primed surface should be dry without any contamination. Silicone coatings must be applied within the specified coating intervals (see the relevant product description). Any parts such as peeling and damage should be cleaned up to the required standards (such as Sa2 1/2 (ISO 8501-1:1988) or SSPC-SP6 blast cleaning standard, or SSPC SP11 power tool cleaning standard), and the bottom is added. The lacquer is then coated with a silicone coating. The surface that is primed with zinc paint. Make sure the primer surface is clean, dry, non-polluting, and free of zinc salts before applying silicone coating. Be sure to wait for the zinc-containing primer to cure completely before applying other coatings.
